
Joseph (JD) Mestas
November 6th, 1928 — March 3rd, 2015
Joseph “JD” Mestas, age 86, of Lafayette CO, passed away peacefully March 3, 2015. Joseph was born in Kenwood, CO to Doroteo and Candalaria Mestas on November 6, 1928. Joseph married Viola Talmadge, December 18, 1948; they were married for 66 years. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. In 1961 he moved his family from Pueblo to Lafayette CO. Joseph retired from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1990.
Joseph is survived by his wife Viola; his children Polly (Joe) Salazar of Arvada, Ed (Laura) Mestas of Erie, Connie (Jerome) Blazon of Broomfield, and Dorothy (Charles) Esquibel of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons; three sisters Michele Martinez, Helen Casias, Emma Guerro of Pueblo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all.
The family of Joe wants to thank Exempla Good Samaritan Hospital and Tru Hospice for the love and care they showed to our father and the family.
Viewing will be Saturday, March 7 at Darrell Howe Mortuary, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette, CO from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral service will be Monday, March 9 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Cabrini Drive, Lafayette, CO. Rosary will be at 9:30 am and mass at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Lafayette Cemetery, 111 W. Baseline Road, Lafayette, CO.

The funeral service will be Monday, March 9 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Cabrini Drive, Lafayette, CO. Rosary will be at 9:30 am and mass at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Lafayette Cemetery, 111 W. Baseline Road, Lafayette, CO. A reception will be held at the church after the graveside service.
