Abel J. Romero

November 5th, 1931September 27th, 2015

On the morning of August 27, 2015, Abel passed away peacefully at home while being comforted by his family.  Abel has battled numerous illnesses in the past year.  He was 83 years old.

Abel was born on Nov. 5th, 1931 in Taos, New Mexico.  He was the third born out of nine siblings.  Abel’s parents were Emilia Padilla and Eloy Romero.  His siblings are: Joe, Paleen, Toby, Helen, Simion, James, Tillie, and George.

Abel served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He later worked for the city of Boulder in the water department until his retirement about twenty years ago.

Abel enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, as well as stamp and coin collecting.  In his later years he enjoyed football and his trips up to Black Hawk.

He adored his two sons, Abe and Leonard, and cared for Abe, who is disabled.

Abel is survived by his sons Leonard and Abe, daughter-in-law Shirly, grandchildren Krissi and Louie, and great grandson Marcos.  Surviving siblings are Paulin, Toby, James, and Tilie, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Abel was greatly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Services

Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 5 at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette.  Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. with services at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, burial will take place at Lafayette cemetery.
