Anna Letitia "Tish" Tobias

Anna Letitia “Tish” Tobias, age 91, of Lafayette, Colorado, died Friday, November 20, 2015.  Tish was born December 22, 1923 in Abilene, Kansas.  She was one of four daughters and a son born to Daniel and Anna Letitia Thompson.

Tish graduated from Abilene High School and after raising five children graduated from the Boulder School of Licensed Practical Nursing.  She worked for 16 years as an LPN at Boulder Community Hospital, having been Employer of the Year in 1986.

She married John Harry Tobias of Detroit, Kansas on June 1, 1941 and together they had three sons and two daughters.  They established their home in the Abilene and Topeka, Kansas areas, as well as their final years in Lafayette, Colorado.  They were married for 48 years until John’s death in 1989.     

Tish was a member of the Methodist Church and for 35 years a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary as an active volunteer.  Tish also was a member of the Lafayette Senior Center and joined in many volunteer activities.  She helped make many lap robes and quilts for the Veterans Hospital.   She enjoyed being a member of the Golden Tones singing group.  She sang beautiful harmony for the group with any song chosen.  Tish also traveled the world having visited all 50 states and many foreign countries.

Tish is survived by four of her five children including John Tobias Jr and his wife Rosalie of Bloomington, Illinois; Judy Poole of Lafayette, Colorado; Robert Tobias and his wife Cindy of Osage City, Kansas; and James Tobias of Broomfield, Colorado; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Tish was preceded in death by her daughter, Letty Ann Fye.

The family would like to thank the Agape Healthcare staff, as well as the Sunrise caregivers, for their kind and considerate care of Tish during her illness.


A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 1 pm at Darrell Howe Mortuary at 1701 W. South Boulder Road followed by a reception at the Lafayette Senior Center at 103 S. Iowa Avenue.  Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, Moonlight, Dickinson, Kansas. 








She was a wonderful mother and friend. Always took care of her family. Loved to do craft things. Love to travel with her family. Will always hold a special place in my heart.
We are very sad to learn of Aunt Latisha's passing. She has and will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
