John W. Bollinger

John Wayne Bollinger, age 62, died at home on Jan. 7, 2015 after a 1½ year battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 10, 1953, in Latrobe, PA, he graduated from Greensburg Salem High in 1971.  John graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering.  After starting his career in Iowa City, Iowa John moved to Colorado.  He worked as a project manager for the Boulder Valley School District for 21 years.

John served on the Louisville Fire Dept. from 1996-2011 and finished with the rank of Capt. He enjoyed fly-fishing, photography, skiing and traveling.

Survivors include his mother, Corinne Bollinger and daughter Joslyn (Jayson) Hopmayer and grandson Broderick, and his longtime companion, Amy Bishop.  John is also survived by his sister Joan (Jim) Jahnsen and brother Paul (Linda) Bollinger, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John S. Bollinger.


A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm on Sat. Jan. 16th at Louisville Fire Department Station #3 located at 2095 Boxelder St.  Louisville, CO.   In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Louisville Fire Department Firefighter Benevolent Fund, 895 Via Appia Way, Louisville, CO 80027
