Claudia Dennis Wilson-Farrell

January 27th, 1944July 29th, 2019

A bright light has gone out and an amazingly beautiful soul has left this world.  On July 29, 2019, Claudia D. Wilson-Farrell passed away at home and ascended to Heaven on the wings of Angels. Claudia fought to be with her family until the very end.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. She was a dear friend to many and she “never knew a stranger.”

Claudia was born on January 27, 1944 to Claude Alonza Dennis and Mary Louise Sharpley of Chincoteague, VA  at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA. Claudia grew up in Norfolk, Virginia learning to dance ballet, pointe and tap at an early age.  She loved to dance, sing and perform throughout her younger years and she completed a Masters of Ballet. Claudia attended Maury High School in Norfolk, VA and graduated in 1962.

Claudia married Eddie W. Wilson, the love of her life and together they became the parents to Heather Wilson (Raines) and Jennifer Wilson (Day).  She lived out most of her life surrounded by her family and loving friends in Virginia. Claudia eventually moved to Oklahoma to be near her daughter Heather and son-in-law Alfred C. Raines and her six grandchildren.  During the last years of her life she struggled with COPD and moved to Colorado to reside with her daughter Jennifer, her son-in-law Adam and her grandchildren, River and Maya.

Claudia was an amazing woman who grew from hardships, cared for many and enjoyed what the world had to offer with great appreciation.  She was grateful for every day she woke to a new day. She cherished friends and family most of all and shared her heart, soul and love with them unconditionally.

Claudia will be deeply missed by her daughters Heather W. Raines of Purcell, OK and Jennifer L. Day of Louisville, CO, her son-in-law A.C. Raines and son-in-law Adam E. Day, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, ex-husband Eddie Wilson, ex-husband Thomas Farrell, her “Virginia family” as she called them and many others.

The Memorial Service for friends and family to attend will be held in Virginia in August, date, time and location to be determined.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Claudia’s memory to The American Lung Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The American Cancer Society.

Our deep sadness to all family and friends. Claudia was a wonderful friend to everyone. She was like a sister to me. She taught me much over the years just by watching her example of kindness. Even though we didn't see each other much, I always loved our talks on the phone. She was such a caring, giving and happy lady. I will miss her dearly. Dinah and John Preddy Virginia Beach, VA
I met Claudia thru the medical field, when she worked for Michael Ryan,MD & I worked for Gordon Ryan, MD. She was an amazing, talented, sharp & fun person to be around. When I needed someone to take over my office for a time, she was the only one I trusted. Even when she moved to OK., we still kept in touch. I will miss you 'til we meet again, dear friend.
